What You Really Know About Pipe Fittings

Fittings are used for piping and plumbing systems, they have various industrial and commercial applications. Distinguished fittings and flange manufacturers in India offers magnificent services and brilliant products at nominal prices. Pipe fittings come in different shapes and size and used to join multiple pipes, plumbing often deals with the conveyance of gas, water, and liquid in a domestic environment, pipe, and fittings on the other hand deals with the high-performance liquid conveyance.

After understanding its basics, now lets us take a quick look at different fitting material.

  • Stainless steel
  • Alloy steel
  • Carbon steel
  • Tempered glass, Pvc
  • Nonferrous metal

Fittings types

1. Reducer

Reducer is used to reduce the flow, there are basically two types of reducers one is concentric and the other is eccentric, concentric has a cone shape with gradual decreasing around the pipe which leads to the accumulation of air and hence cause cavitation. Eccentric on the other hand does not face any such problems because one of its edges is parallel to connecting pipe and hence there is no possibility of air accumulation.

2. Elbow

In certain cases, there is need to change the direction of flow between two pipes, at that situation elbow is used. Generally, they are available at an angle of 45, 22.5 and 90 degrees, if the pipe's diameter is same than normal elbow is used and if it doesn't then reduce elbow is used.

3. Cross type

Cross type fitting has four openings, it's used when there is a need to connect four pipes probably at a point. They produce more stress on the pipes because they are located at the central point, they are used mainly in fire sprinkling system.

4. Tea type fittings

They are ideal for plumbing and consist of one inlet and two outlets, they are arranged at an angle of 90 degrees with the inlet to which the main line is connected, tea type has three sides as its name highlights. They are of two types, namely equal tea and unequal tea, in the former all sides are equal but in latter sides are not equal.

5. Coupling

Coupling as the name suggests, is used to connect two pipes having the same diameter. Compression and slip are its two types which differ from one another with a simple fact, in slip coupling pipes can be slipped to a certain length which is not possible in compression.
